Before Your Session
Consultation
A portrait is an intimate act. Before I ever pick up the camera, I want to know who you are.
Every client comes to a session with a different intention — a set of professional images for a business launch, a personal portrait marking a milestone, branding photographs for a growing company, or simply the desire to be seen clearly and beautifully. Understanding your reasons shapes everything: the lighting, the backdrop, the pace of the session, and the mood of the final images.
We'll connect in advance — by phone, by email, or ideally in person — to talk through what you're looking for and how you'd like to feel in your photographs.
How Far in Advance Should I Book?
I recommend booking at least two weeks ahead. This gives you time to gather your wardrobe, sit with any questions, and arrive feeling genuinely prepared — not rushed.
Wardrobe & Styling
Once your session is confirmed, we'll work through clothing and styling together. A few guiding principles:
- Wear what makes you feel like yourself — confident and at ease
- Solid colors and muted tones tend to photograph beautifully in studio light
- Busy patterns and prominent logos can distract from the subject — you
- Bring two or three outfit options to allow for variety
- Schedule haircuts around a week before your session; nail appointments one to two days prior
If you're unsure about what to wear, ask. And if you'd like a makeup artist on set, I'm happy to arrange it.
Session Day
Arrival & Setup (10–15 minutes)
When you arrive, I'll walk you through the studio, show you where to get settled, and we'll revisit your goals before we begin. I'll fine-tune the lighting to complement your look, your skin tone, and the mood you're after.
The Session (30–90 minutes)
This is where the work happens — and where it begins to feel less like work.
You don't need any experience in front of a camera. I'll guide you through every pose, every expression, every small shift that changes a photograph. The atmosphere is intentional but unhurried: good music, easy conversation, and a pace that allows you to settle into yourself. We'll also review test images together on the monitor as we go, so you can see the images taking shape in real time.
After Your Session
Proofing
When your images are ready, you'll receive a private online gallery of watermarked proofs. Take your time. Review them at your own pace and select your favourites without pressure.
Retouching & Delivery
Once your selections are confirmed, I'll complete the finishing work — skin refinement, stray hair removal, background clean-up, and any minor retouching. You'll receive high-resolution digital files, ready for professional use, printing, or sharing.
Final delivery takes approximately two weeks from the time of your selections. If you're working to a tighter timeline, a rush option is available.
A Few Final Notes
Simple preparation makes a meaningful difference:
Rest well. A well-rested face photographs beautifully. Eat beforehand. You'll feel more present and at ease. Bring references. A Pinterest board, a saved image, a screenshot — anything that communicates the feeling you're after. Trust the process. Feeling self-conscious in front of a camera is almost universal. Guiding you through that is part of what I do.
